ISO CMD – survey of functional and ergonomic dimensions

With our so-called chair measuring device (CMD) it is possible to determine not only the functional dimensions but also the ergonomic dimensions. The handling of the ISO CMD is absolutely uncomplicated. In order to collect the relevant results, the office swivel chair to be determined is attached to the CMD using a crane and then moved to different positions. The data is collected using relatively simple measuring instruments at the CMD. This guarantees easy and uncomplicated usability – and the measuring time is less than half an hour. Since July 1st, 2020, the ISO-CMD measuring dummy has also been officially adapted to the European office swivel chair standard EN 1335-1: 2020.

ISO 24496: 2017 mandatory

In order for the current office swivel chair models to comply with the currently applicable ISO standard 24496: 2017, certain measurement parameters must be observed. These can be determined with the new CMD from Weinmann Prüftechnik. Among other things, the seat and seat height as well as the seat depth and seat angle are to be determined. In addition, the CMD provides results for the backrest angle, the back plate height and the armrest height and width. In the same way, data about the lumbar area as well as the head and neck support area can be collected.

The scope of delivery of the ISO CMD from Weinmann Prüftechnik includes the ISO CMD dummy and the RIG for holding the chair on the ISO-CMD.
